Strawberry Lemon Curd TRIFLE


I had been intending to make this rich and delightful dessert for a very long time. But with the fear of consuming all that cream and sugar kept me stopped. But....cravings are cravings! It doesn't listen to the health conscious angel on my right side. ;)

I waited for a perfect opportunity to indulge in this dessert on an Iftar party that I hosted in our home last week.  Hey, if I am going to get high on some sugar and sturated fat, i might as well take everyone else down with me =D =P

Anywayyy...here is the priceless recipe that I have used. 


Serves: 10-12 people (if served in a small/medium dessert glass)

Ingredients:
1 Baked Lemon cake (Preferrably from Betty Crocker) or home made
1-1/2 cup strawberry sauce (home made, see below for my recipe)
1/2 pound (225 grams) fresh strawberries, sliced
1 1/2 cups (360 ml) Lemon Curd (store bought)
1 1/2 cups (360 ml) heavy whipping cream (35%)
2 - 3 tablespoons (25 - 35 grams) granulated white sugar
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Preparation:

To make the Whipping Cream : 
 In the bowl of your electric mixer, or with a hand mixer, beat the cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
Have these things ready for making the Trifle:
* The lemon cake * the strawberry sauce * sliced strawberries * lemon curd * whipping cream

To assemble:
  1. In the bottom of your serving cups/glasses place the slices (about 1/3 inch thick) of the home made or store bought cake. 
  2. Fill in any gaps with pieces of the cake. 
  3. Pour 2 table spoon of the strawberry sauce over the cake. 
  4. Top the strawberry sauce with some sliced strawberries. 
  5. Then 2 table spoon of the lemon curd over the strawberries. 
  6. Top the lemon curd with two-three table spoons of the whipped cream
  7. Repeat the layers. ( I wanted small servings so i only repeated it with cake, sauce and nothing else
  8. Cover with plastic wraps and refrigerate the servings for 8 hours minimum and up to 24 hours to allow the flavors to blend together. 
  9.  
  10. Just before serving garnish  the top of the trifle with some more sliced strawberries
